Article Abstract

This project explores using Google Classroom and Youtube Videos to influence secondary students' academic performance through the use of Educational Technology class material in Ondo State, Nigeria. The study followed a quasi-experimental research design with 120 second-year students from 2 secondary schools selected by convenience sampling. Two assessment instruments (ETCPT and GCYVP) were used to collect data and analyze using t-test. The results indicated a statistically significant difference in academic performance between students who were taught using GCYVP and those students who received traditional teaching methods. There were no statistically significant differences between the academic performance of male and female students exposed to GCYVP. Additionally, there were also no statistically significant differences in the academic performance of students from public and private secondary schools who received instruction using the GCYVP. Based on these results it is recommended that all secondary school systems adopt the instructional strategy of using Google Classroom and Youtube Video as an additional instructional pedagogy to improve academic success outcomes for all secondary school students (males and females) from all educational scenarios (public and private).
